Privacy Policy
Last updated October 7, 2026
This policy explains what Hounsy ("we," "us") collects through hounsy.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. Hounsy is currently in pre-launch: you can try practice questions and join a waitlist, but there are no accounts or payments yet. We will update this policy before that changes.
The short version
- We collect what you type into our forms, plus a few details that come with them.
- Your practice progress stays in your own browser.
- We don't run ads or analytics trackers, and we don't sell or share your information for advertising.
- Email [email protected] any time to see, fix, or delete your information.
What we collect
When you join the waitlist: your email address, the exam you're preparing for, when you plan to test, whether you want daily study reminders, and which plan you were looking at.
When you request a program pilot: your name, work email, program and institution, track, and the number of students testing.
Sent along with either form: the time you submitted, the page you were on, your practice XP and streak count, and your approximate country. Our hosting provider works out the country from your IP address. We store the country, not the IP address.
Practice progress: your answers, mastery scores, XP, and streak are saved in your browser's local storage on your device. We don't receive them, except the XP and streak count sent with a form as described above. Clearing your browser data erases them.
Technical data: like any website, our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes your IP address, browser type, and request details to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser also sends your IP address to Google when you visit.
We don't set advertising or analytics cookies. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie.
How we use it
- To email you when Hounsy opens and about your waitlist spot.
- To send daily study reminders, only if you ticked that box.
- To reply to pilot requests and set up pilots.
- To understand demand in aggregate, such as how many people are preparing for each exam.
- To keep the site secure and prevent spam and abuse.
Every email we send will tell you how to stop receiving it. You can also reply to any email or write to [email protected].
Who we share it with
We don't sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share it only with:
- Service providers that run Hounsy for us: Cloudflare (hosting, database, and email delivery) and Google (the email provider we use to receive form notifications and messages, and Google Fonts). They may use it only to provide their services.
- Authorities, when the law requires it or to protect the rights and safety of our users or others.
- A successor, if Hounsy is sold or merged. This policy will continue to apply to your information.
How long we keep it
We keep waitlist and pilot information until you ask us to delete it, or until 24 months after our last contact with you, whichever comes first. Service providers' logs follow their own retention schedules.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to access, correct, delete, or export your information, or to stop emailing you, by writing to [email protected]. We'll respond within 30 days and won't treat you differently for asking. Depending on where you live, including California, the EU, and the UK, you may have more rights under local law. We honor those requests too.
If you're in the EU or UK, we rely on your consent for study reminders, and on our legitimate interest in responding to your request for everything else. You can withdraw consent at any time and can complain to your local data protection authority.
Security
The site is served only over HTTPS, and access to stored information is limited to the people running Hounsy. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect what you share with us.
Children
Hounsy is built for students in radiography and radiation therapy programs. It isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Where your information is stored
Your information is stored and processed in the United States. If you're outside the US, by using Hounsy you understand that it will be handled under US law and this policy.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is significant and we have your email, we'll tell you before it takes effect.
